INDEPENDENT UKRAINE
GERMANY’S ASPIRATIONS POLISH MEMORANDUMS LONDON, Dec. 19. A veiled warning to Germany concerning her aspirations in respect to an independent Ukraine is contained in a memorandum from the Polish Charge d’Affaires to the Czechoslovakian Government, in which attention is drawn to the activity of a certain organisation within Czechoslovakia. The memorandum adds a warning that continuance of these may be detrimental to the relations between Poland and Czechoslovakia. It pointed out that this obviously refers to activities in the Ukraine of Nationalists who, openly supported by Germany, are working for the formation of an independent State. The Prague correspondent of The Times announced that it would thoroughly investigate the complaint. It would not tolerate irredentist activities against foreign Powers.
