THEFT OF WOOL
DUNEDIN MAN SENTENCED BAD COMPANY AND DRINK BLAMED (Feb United Pbess Association) ASHBURTON, Nov. 4. Gordon McDonald McCrea. aged 27, a carpenter, of Dunedin, appeared on four charges of the theft of wool of a total value of £45 5s 4d, the property of various owners at Waikare, Carew, and Waimate. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour on one and convicted and discharged on the others. The police said that accused had hired a covered van,' in which he loaded wool stolen from farms Counsel said that the accused could earn £8 9s a week as a carpenter, but got into bad company, starting the thefts during a drinking bout.
