CONFERENCE OF TRADESMEN'S ASSOCIATION RATES OF PAY DISCUSSED 'Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 2. The biennial conference of the New Zealand Railways Tradesmen's Association, which began its sessions yesterday, is being attended by delegates throughout the Dominion. The conference recorded appreciation of the victory of the Labour Government at the recent elections, special reference being made to the success of Mr Combs, who has been closely associated with the Tradesmen's Association during the past 12 years. The conference spent a good deal of time during the first day dealing with railway tradesmen's rates of pay and the dilution of trades. The aarliest possible arrangement is being made with the Government to obtain its 'decision regardins the claim for increased wages. Representatives of the Boilermakers' Federation met the conference when the dilution question was fully considered. It was decided to take appropriate action to protect the interests of the skilled men concerned.
