YOUTHFUL STOWAWAY
FARM HAND ADMITTED TO PROBATION JOINED SHIP IN AUSTRALIA (Per United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 2. Michael John Kelly, aged .19, a farm hand, who stowed away on the Kaikorai, was brought before Mr W. H. Woodward. S.M., in the Police Court this morning and admitted to probation for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay the sum of £7 10s, the amount of his fare from Australia to New Zealand. The accused hid himself in the bunkers on the Kaikorai at Port Kembla, New South Wales, on October 26. It was stated that work was available, for him on a farm at Midhirst.
