GIL DECH’S RECITAL

On Wednesday next Mr Gil Dech proposes to present a piano recital in the Town Hall Concert Chamber at 8 p.m, Admission will be by invitation, which may be obtained at Begg’s free of charge. Seats may also be reserved there. Mr Dech needs no introduction to Dunedin music lovers, to whom he has been familiar for many years by reason of his recorded

orchestral and pianoforte presentations. More recently he has become known personally, and has enhanced his reputation in appearances on Dunedin concert platforms. Mr Dech has behind him many years of experience as a brilliant solo pianist and a conductor of the first rank. He commenced his training at an early age in London under the expert tutelage of Irene Scharrer. and later became the protege of the famous Tobias Matthay, and enjoyed the encouragement and instinction of such eminent men as York Bowen and Frederick Corder. A successful musical career was launched when he made his debut at the early age of 21 at the Queen’s Hall, London. Since then Mr Dech has added to his reputation in many countries before finally coming to these shores. He will be assisted at Wednesday’s recital by the Dunedin Concert Orchestra.
