The lease expires on May 2, 1900, and the annual rental is £1(1. The club to transfer its title to the ireehold area (9.9 poles) at the rear of the leasehold, together with the right-of-way to Fitzroy street, to the council for the sum of £75. The club to have the right to remove all buildings from the land. It is not expected that the club would be able to transfer to the new green inside a period of two years. At the end of this period the council will take over portion of the frontage, 6.4 poles, for street widening in David street, the Tramway Department taking as compensation the rear area mentioned above. The total holding will then comprise Ir 11.3 p, plus the right-of-way, as compared with the existing area of lr Bp. Terms of Transfer On the subject of the terms of the transfer the Reserves Committee will submit the following recommendation to Monday night’s meeting of the council:— Arrangements have been completed with the club, .and the committee recommends that the proposal be approved on the following terms:— (a) That the Caversham Bowling Club be granted a site for a bowling green on the Caversham Reserve at Forbury corner at the usual charge of £6 10s per annum. (b) The club to pay all costs of forming the green and to arrange with the Government for the suppiy of fulltime subsidised labour. The £75 which is to be paid the club as compensation for the freehold area which is being transferred to the Tramways department is to be credited to this expenditure, and the balance required by the council is to be paid fortnightly as the work proceeds. (c) The club to bear the cost of deviating and asphalting the existing pathway to clear the site of the new green. Compensation for Freehold The Finance Conynittee will recommend that the sum of £75 be allowed the Caversham Bowling Club for the freehold area, containing 9.9 poles, plus the right-of-way, which the club nas agreed to transfer to the council. This area is situated at the rear of the land leased by them from the Tramways Department in David street. The amount recommended will be provided by the council by way of expenditure in connection with the construction of the club’s proposed new green on the Caversham children’s playground. The work will be carried out by the Reserves Department, and the club will find all costs of supervision and materials beyond this amount.
