"BATS IN THE BELFRY”
SPECIAL BENEFIT PRESENTATION As a special contribution to the Do-minion-wide effort to raise funds to permit the brilliant young violinist Alan Loveday to be sent overseas for advanced tuition, the Dunedin Repertory Society has consented to stage, for one night only. “Bats in the Belfry,” an hilarious three-act comedy by Diana Morgan and R MacDermott. The play, will be presented at the Concert Chamber. Town Hall, on Thursday next. “ Bats in the Belfry ” is an outstanding example of modem light comedy, and was played to a capacity house some weeks ago at a Repertory Society social evening. So popular was the play that many people were unable to gain admission, and a repetition of this amusing comedy will be welcomed by those who were unable to see it. The cast is a strong one. and includes such well-known names as Mrs John McPherson. Misses Frances Palmer Daphne Bowman, Isobel Newlands. Katherine Napier, and Messrs K. Palmer. D. S Chisholm, Bruce McKenzie. A. McDowell, Maurice Kershaw, D. C. Rose, and H. Robinson. An attractive feature of the evening’s entertainment will be the appearance of Master Alan Loveday. who has been referred to by critics as “ New Zealand’s musical find." Master Loveday, who has certainly astonished music < lovers by his remarkable facility and his almost faultless technique, will olay a number of selections between the acts. Box plans will be opened at Begg’s this morning, and early booking is advised.
