FACIAL ECZEMA

LOSSES OF STOCK SERIOUSNESS OF POSITION (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. The -serious losses likely to arise from the outbreak of facial eczema among stock in various parts of the North Island last summer.were mentioned by Mr W. J. Poison (Opposition, Stratford) during consideration of the estimates of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr Poison drew attention to a vote for facial eczema research on the departmental estimates and said it appeared that several departments were cooperating in an attempt to determine the cause of the outbreak. " The losses from facial eczema," Mr Poison added, "are going to run, not to. £1,000,000, but probably to more than £2,000,000. It is only now that the lambing season has commenced that we are beginning to realise the true seriousness of the position."
