RAIN IN AUCKLAND
NO WORK ON WATERFRONT SHIPPING DELAYED heavy gales at sea (Per United Press Association 1 ‘ AUCKLAND, July M. The second successive day of almost incessant rain was experienced at Auckland to-day.. Shipping was dislocated by rain on the waterfront and by gales off the coast. The Huddmrt, Parker motor liner Wanganella. which was to have left for Sydney to-day, has. after several postponements la her sailing time, been set down to tall definitely at 10 o’clock to-morrow night, 30 hours behind schedule. No work could be done on any of the other ships in port. The South Pacific Line passenger steamer Swartenhondt, from Singapore and Eastern ports, which was expected here (tomorrow morning, advised-that she-had been delayed by heavy weather jind would not reach port before Sunday. A south-east gale has also delayed the Osaka Syosen Kaisya motor ship Brisbane Mara scheduled to arrive here from Kobe to-night.. The ship has reported that she will not arrive /until to-morrow evening. Arriving at Auckland to-night, more than a day late on her voyage from Westport, the coastal steamer Canopus encountered high winds and rough seas after clearing , port on Monday. These conditions ruled until North Cape was rounded, when the ship was further delayed by a west-south-west gale and poor visibility on her voyage down the coast.
