THE KING’S CUP

HENSHAW WINS AIR RACE CLOUSTON FORCED TO RETIRE LONDON, July 2. (Received July 3, at 7.30 p.m.) The King’s Cup Air Race resulted in a win for A. Henshaw, who flew a Mew Gull. His handicap was llmin 4sec, conceding 2hr 38min Isec to the limit man. Guthrie, in a Mew Gull, off a handicap of 18min, was second. Flying-officer Clouston, accompanied by his wife, flew a B. A. Eagle with a handicap of 2hr 46|min, but retired in the tenth lap owing to a stoppage in the petrol tank of the machine.

There were 14 competitors and the conditions were perfect. Henshaw averaged 236£ miles an hour, the fastest in the race, for which there is a special prize of £3OO, in addition to the first prize of £BOO.
