ST. KILDA CLUB SUCCESSFUL SEASON REVIEWED Approximately 80 members were present at the thirty-fourth annual meeting of the St. Kilda Bowling Club on Saturday night. The president (Mr P. A. Macomish) occupied the chair, and congratulated the members on the successful season experienced. CHAIRMAN’S REMARKS Moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the chairman stressed the desirability for increasing the membership of the club, which at the present time stood at 113. The incoming committee would have to consider carrying out repairs to the pavilion during the next season, he stated. The Marlow Green, which was opened on October 10, was used for Saturday matches and had played remarkably well. Referring to fine balance sheet, he said that members should feel gratified at the healthy state of the finances. The motion was seconded by Mr W. H. Whitaker, and carried after a brief general discussion. REMITS The Dunedin Bowling Centre forwarded a copy of remits received from different clubs for the consideration of the meeting. It was agreed- to support the following two remits from the Kaikorai Club:—“ When a club wins any inter-club competition controlled by the centre, such success should be permanently recorded by the centre in the club’s pavilion, say, in the form of a certificate or in some such suitable manner (the words ‘ not retrospective' to be included).” That in regard to the Champion of Champions Competition the name of the champion of each club must be forwarded to the centre at least 24 hours before the date fixed for play, otherwise the entry will not be accepted, be altered as follows: —The words “ 24 hours ” be altered to “ three days.” A remit from the Leith Club: “ That the number of playing Saturdays be increased to 15 ” was opposed. It was decided not to support the Roslyn Club’s remit “ That as the 40-hour week is not yet universal the centre Saturday competitions commence at 2.30 p.m. instead of 2.15 p.m.” The following remit from the Anderson’s Bay Club was opposed:— “ That for the Saturday Inter-club Competition the centre revert to the method of scoring adopted during the year 1935-36, i.e., by rink wins instead of by section total points as in vogue at present.” A remit from Mr A. N Smith, of the Dunedin Club, to the effect that the number of delegates on the Dunedin Bowling Centre be reduced was not supported. GENERAL The number of entries for the Saturday inter-club matches was left to the incoming committee to decide. It was decided to enter for the Four Rink Championship and the Adess Shield Competition. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr W,

Mr Alexander Cook REMITS The following were discussed, and ne delegate was instructed to vote as follows:—Kaikorai Club, to support; Centre Executive, to support; Leith Club, to oppose, Roslyn Club, to support; Dunedin Ciufa, to oppose; Anderson’s Bay Club—As the Brighton Club was In favour of the present system ol scoring it was decided lo oppose this remit. GENERAL Eulogistic reference was made to the active interest taken in the affairs of the club by Mr A. Cook since its inception, and on the unanimous vote of the members he was elected a life member. It was unanimously decided that the sum of £1 Is be voted by members to the Carswell Testimonial Fund. It was decided to enter for the Sat urday Inter-club and also the Champion of Champions competitions. Mr G. A, Nelson was accorded * special vote of thanks for his advice, and also for his supervision of the recent one-day Rink Tournament an action which was much appreciated The Dunedin Centre was also accorded a vote of thanks for its assistance and help to the club, members expressing confidence in the work of the centre.
