BASKETBALL
SATURDAY’S MATCHES The following are the results of Basketball matches played on Saturday afternoon:— FIRST GRADE ROSLYN v. TRAINING COLLEGE I The game between Roslyn and Training College I opened with a burst of speed on Roslyn’s part, the good combination of the team resulting in a lead of 6 goals being obtained. Half time was sounded with the score standing at 14—4 in favour of Roslyn. The second half was more evenly contested, scores being added by each team more regularly. The final score was Roslyn 24, Training College I 11. Mrs E. McAughtrie was the referee. ALBANY II v. RAWHITI The Albany 11-Rawhiti game opened briskly, and the latter team scored with a long shot by P. McKinlay. Rawhiti held the advantage for some time, but in the closing stages of the first half Albany II exerted pressure and led by 7 goals to 6 at half time. The second half was not so fast as the_ first, although scoring was of a similar nature. Time was called with the score standing at 15 goals to 10 in Albany’s favour. ' Mr A. P. Roydhouse controlled the game. UNIVERSITY v McKENZIE’S The game between University and J, R. McKenzie’s was keenly contested, McKenzie’s leading at hall time, when the score was 9—7. University’s game improved considerably in the second spell, and the goal it gained just before the final whistle made the game a draw—ls all. ALBANY v. Y.W.C.A Albany met Y.W.C.A. on Logan Park No. 1. The game was very fkst, though fumbling was noticed owing to the damp ball Play was of an even nature, Albany being more successful with its shooting. The half-time score was 15—7 Flay in the second half was also of ? fast nature, Albany scoring very regularly. The final score was Albany 28, Y.W.C.A. 16. Miss S E. Foster controlled the game. O.G.R.S, v. TRAINING COLLEGE II Otago Girls’ High School scored a victory over Training College uSchool played one short during the first half, but despite this led by fi—3 at half time. The second half was speedy, with the School dominating play. The final score was 16 —7 in favour of the O.G.H.S. he game was controlled by Mr J. THE NEXT TRIALS The next trials practice will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Logan Park. SECOND GRADE ' Kiwi 30, High School Ex-girls 1. ' Albany 28, Roslyn II 6. College 15, Defiance 14. . Woolworths 15, Y.W.C.A. 13. North-east Valley 11, O.G.H.S. 4. PLAYERS FOR TRIALS The following players are asked to attend the Drill Hall at 5.45 p.m. to-morrow for the Second Grade
