(Received July 3, at 8 p.m.) The Grand National Hurdle Race, of £2OOO, three miles, resulted as follows: H. and M. Burke’s ch g DAKWOOD (Backwood —Eton Blue), aged, 10.3 (Douglas) 1 W. Stobart’s WALLACE DRAKE, 9.4 (McKee) 2 GIANT KILLER. 9.2 (Dummett) .. 3 Time, smin SOisec. Frisco was scratched Heroic Chief made the early pace, but Giant Killer led over the last fence. Dakwood then raced to the front, and although hotly challenged by Wallace Drake, won by half a head. Giant Killer was a length and a-half away third. Pooley Bridge looked like gaining a place approaching the straight, but faded away. Whernside was always in the bunch. (Received July 3, at 8 p.m.) The Doomben Cup resulted as follows: — BROWN LANCE, 7.3 J (Beresford) 1 VIVAT REX, 7.0 (Conquest) .. .. 2 SPEARBLEU, 8.0 (Cook) .. .. 3 Scratched: Spear Chief and Millie’s Hope. Won by a short head, with a head between second and third. Time, 2min 19sec.
