PROMINENT AMERICAN RESULT OF DESPONDENCY SAN FRANCISCO, June 14. Dr William Campbell, aged 76, an ex-president of the University of California and an ex-director of the famous Lick Observatory, jumped from the fourth floor window of his apartment and was killed. He had been despondent and left notes for his family.
