WOMEN’S HOCKEY
EXECUTIVE MEETING The weekly meeting of the executive of the Women’s Hockey Association was held last night, Mrs Nelson presiding over a full attendance of members. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY The entries received for the seven-a-side tourney were 11 in the A Grade and 24 in the B Grade. It was decided to keep one section only in A Grade and to divide the B Grade into three sections. The entries were:— A Grade.—Momona 2, Dunedin 2, Bruce 2, Otago 2, Milton, Training College and Kings 1 each. B Grade (drawn).—Section I: Owaka, Training College I, Y.W.C.A. 11. Brighton, Kings I. West Taieri 11, Otago 11, Milton I. Section II: Training College 11, West Harbour, Dunedin, Bruce, Lawrence, West Taieri I, Taieri and Carlton. Section III: Momona, Y.W.C.A. I. Balclutha, Bounty, Kings 11, Otago I, University, and Milton 11. SILVER TRAIL The convener of the Silver Trail Committee (Miss Wilson) reported that the order for this week was Y.W.C.A., Momona. West Taieri, Otago. Dunedin, Brighton, and Kings, other club's positions remaining unaltered. SPORTS CARNIVAL Miss Morton, convener of the Sports Carnival Committee, reported that arrangements were proceeding satisfactorily. Women players are advised of competitions for cake baking and sweets. Clubs were allotted to take charge of the stall in the evenings as follows:—Saturday, Dunedin; Monday, Kings; Tuesday, Momona; Wednesday, Otago; Thursday, Bounty and West Harbour; Friday, Training College and University; Saturday—West Taieri, Brighton, and Carlton. TRIAL MATCH The secretary reported that arrangements had been made to play the trial match (to enable the New Zealand selector to see the Otago nominees) against Eastern at Milton on Saturday, July 11, the match to commence at 2.30. It was also decided to play the match Otago A II v. South Otago as a curtain-raiser to the trial, the All match to commence at 1.15, and the bus to leave Queen’s Gardens at 12 noon. Each player is to contribute 2s 6d towards expenses. ENGLISH TEAM’S VISIT The chairwoman and secretary reported having interviewed the Otago Rugby Football Union regarding terms for Carisbrook on June 25, satisfactory arrangements being made. The gate charge agreed on was Is to the ground and Is 3d extra to the stand. The match will commence at 1.15, and the ground will be marked with tapes. UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT ’ The secretary of the Otago United Women's Hockey Clubs advised that the tournament, in which teams from Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago would take part, would be played on July 7,8, and 9. Permission was granted to use the association’s grounds at Logan Park, and it was decided to ask the selector (Mr L. J. Ireland) to select an Otago team to play a combined University team on the morning of July 9. DRAW FOR SATURDAY The’ following is the draw for Saturdav; — A Grade.—Kings v.
