ATHLETIC CLUBS

PROTECTION ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting of the Gtago Amateur Athletic Club’s Protection Association was held last night, the president (Mr P. Vallis) occupying the chair. There was a good attendance of delegates. ANNUAL REPORT The chairman, moving the adoption of the annual report stated that the association was now in a much stronger position numerically than it had ever been, and it was hoped that during the coming year any clubs not affiliated would see their way to join up with the association, as he felt sure that once they were members they would realise the benefits the association could render them by the small outlay of 4s per annum. A large list of defaulters’ names had been submitted during the year, but after receiving notice from the association most had immediately settled with their club, and only 24 had failed to do so. Their names had been placed on the defaulters’ list, and they were debarred from the privilege of membership until such lime as they paid their outstanding subscriptions. A similar association existed in Christchurch, Mr Vallis said, and the two associations exchanged lists, so that defaulters going from one district to the other will still be debarred from taking part in any branch of sport. It was hoped that similar associations would be formed in other centres, and this would further strengthen (he powers of the association. The report was adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: —President. Mr D. Bannatyne; secretary and treasurer. Mr E. S Wilson; honorary auditor, Mr G. G, Austen; committee—Messrs D. Wilkinson, R. A Morrison, P. Vallis. C. Loy. J. Pearson, and E. Ruhen DEFAULTERS’ LIST It was decided that the names of those who had allowed themselves to be declared defaulters be added to the now list of defaulters, and distributed amongst the affiliated dubs.
