KIDNAPPED BOY
MUTILATED BODY FOUND DISCOVERY ON SEASHORE MONTREAL, May 29. (Received* May 30, at 8.40 p.m.) A message from New Rochelle says that the body of Peter Levine, aged 12, after three months’ hunt following one of the nation’s unsolved major kidnappings was found on the rocky seashore near his home. The torso was trussed by wire and the head, feet and one arm were missing. Levine’s father had made several fruitless attempts to make contact with the kidnappers and to pay a ransom of 60,000 dollars. A message published on March 1 stated: Grmen confirmed that Philip Levine, aged 12, the son of a wealthy attorney, has been kidnapped. The boy has been missing since February 24. In response to the father’s request, neither the local nor the Federal authorities are participating in the case in order to permit an attempt to pay ransom, reported to be 60,000 dollars, to obtain the boy’s release. Mr Levine, through the press and radio, pleaded with the kidnappers not to harm his son. He said the ransom was ready and named an intermediary. He urged the kidnappers to get into touch with him immediately.
