MEETS QUEEN MARY

PRINCESS AIDA OF ABYSSINIA INCIDENT AT PLYMOUTH LONDON, May 20. Haile Sellassie”s 11-year-old grand-daughter, Princess Aida Desta, was presented to Queen Mary to-day at Plymouth. The girl, who is at school at Penzance, had been chosen by her schoolmates to present Queen Mary with a purse toward a Princess Elizabeth cot in the Devon and Cornwall Hospital. On the pavement at Plymouth, a widow, Pauline Field, struggled to get a photograph of Queen Mary, with a 24-year-old camera. The Queen beckoned her over. “ May I open the car door?” asked Mrs Field. “ Certainly,” said Queen Mary, who posed smilingly. “ I almost dropped the camera,” said Mrs Field. “ The picture came out clearly.”
