A FRACTURED. FEMUR An elderly man named Joseph Brown, who resides at 375 Cargill road, suffered a fractured femur yesterday as the result of a fall from a ladder. He was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 5 p.m. SCHOOLBOY INJURED Ronald Coburn, a schoolboy, who resides at Bishop street. Rayensbourne, was admitted to the Public Hospital at 3 p.m. yesterday suffering from a fractured right leg caused by a fall while playing football. FALL ON DECK OF SHIP As the result of a fall on the deck of the s.s. Narbada yesterday, Goab Tilla, an Indian member of the crew, suffered head injuries and concussion. He was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 12.30 p.m. A FATAL SHOCK ROPE STRIKES POWER LINES (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 30. A fatal electric shock was received by S. M. Shephard, aged 60 years, at Ngahauranga at 3.35 this afternoon. Shephard, who lived at Lower Hutt, was employed by the Wellington Meat Export Company. Ltd., at Ngahauranga as a yard foreman. At the time of the accident Shephai’d was helping to dismantle one of the old power poles when one of the guy ropes attaching a post to the ground came in contact with the nearby power lines. It is thought from the severe burns on the fingers of the right hand that Shephard must have been holding on to the fence when it was struck by the dangling rope. He leaves a widow and an adult family of three.
