INSURGENT FORCES ADVANCE BARCELONA BOMBED FROM THE AIR LOYALIST MOBILISATION (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SARAGOSSA, May 30. (Received May 30, at 5.5 p.m.) The insurgent forces on the Teruel front advanced two and a-half miles. Eight insurgent planes dropped two lots of bombs in an early morning raid on Barcelona. They were driven off by anti-aircraft batteries. The casualties are not known. Dr Negrin has taken a step nearer general mobilisation, as desired by most organisations, by calling up able-bodied men between the ages of 32 and 33. ITALIAN FRIENDSHIP "DAY OF SOLIDARITY* * MESSAGE SENT TO GENERAL FRANCO ROME, May 29. A “ day of ceremonies illustrating solidarity with Nationalist Spain ” was celebrated throughout Italy. Speeches were made in praise of Italian and Spanish friendship. Signor Mussolini sent a message to General Franco emphasising Italian affection for Spanish Nationalists, who “ are victoriously reaffirming their historic mission.”
