FEMALE LABOUR
REARMAMENT PROGRAMME SUGGESTION AT CONFERENCE LONDON, May 26. (Received May 26, at 8.45 p.m.) The engineering employers, at yesterday’s conference with the unions, discussed the plans for speeding up the Government’s rearmament programme. It was suggested that female labour might be introduced in certain sections of the arms industry. Mr Little (president of the Amalgamated Engineering Union) immediately said the proposals were unacceptable. Other union representatives declared that they could not commit themselves until their executives had considered the proposal.
