PASTOR BRADLEY'S ADDRESS “An amazing transformation has taken place since the dawn of the nineteenth century, and the last 150 years have been marked by progress more astoundingly than any previous era. To-day, the prophecy of Daniel chapter 12, verse four, that, ‘in the time of the end many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased,’ is fulfilled,” said Pastor T. T. Bradley, at the Strand Theatre last evening. “ Up to the beginning of the nineteenth century,” he continued, “ the methods' of industrial production, transportation, and communication were essentially the same as from the dawn of history.” Pericles, Julius Caesar, and Charlemagne would have been quite at home in the social and economic Europe of Louis XIV, Frederick the Great, and George III.” However, since 1800 A.U., had been an endleso procession of wonders, continued the speaker. In every phase of human activity the forces that made for change, for progress and achievement had been acting with explosive energy for which there was no comparison in all history. Lord Avebury, writing in 1913, said: “Though not

80 years old, I am older than any railway company in the world, any gas company, steamboat company, and telegraph, telephone, or ehetric light Company.” To-day, anyone who is 48 years of age or more is older than any automobile company in the world, any aviation company, wireless or radio company. People lived in such a wonderful day of knowledge and inventions that they had come to regard these wonderful inventions a.s commonplace. Actually, the great increase of knowledge during the last 100 years was amazing, unusual, and extraordinary. Since 1814 a host of appliances have been invented.
