PERSONAL

Ministerial The Minister of Public Works (Mr R. Semple) arrived at Auckland from Ngatea on Saturday, and spent the week-end there. He will speak a( several country centres before returning to Wellington on Wednesday night. The Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) arrived in Auckland from the south on Saturday, and visited the Hobsonvillg Air Base. He will visit North Auckland this week. The Minister of Labour (Mr H. T. Armstrong) is in Auckland in connection with the bakers’ dispute.

Dr W. R. Fea. who is well known in Dunedin, has left Timaru to take up his residence in Hamilton. Mr J H. Duncan travelled to Christchurch by the second express for the north on Saturday.

Mr Hugh Speight was a passenger for the north by the through express on Saturday morning, en route to. the United States.

Mr Leslie Dunn, manager of Nestles Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, Dunedin, left for Auckland on Saturday.

The All-year Club of Southern California, Los Angeles, communicating with us under date April 11. states that Mr and Mrs G. J. Errington, of Dunedin, are enjoying a vacation in Southern California, and that they visited the area s Free Tourist Information Bureau in Los Angeles for help in planning thensightseeing. After Los Angeies they wei'e to visit New Orleans.

The Union Airways liner Kotuku left the Taieri airport on Saturday morning for Christchurch, Blenheim and Palmerston North with Mr P. Levy Miss H. Hares. Miss M. Brady, and Dr Hand Newton for Christchurch. Miss M. Barr for Blenheim, and Miss A. Kerr, a through passenger to Napier. The Korimako arrived on Saairday afternoon from the north with three passengers, including Mr J. B. Lynburn from Palmerston north and Miss F. Hughes from Christchurch. The Korimako left the Taieri again yesterday morning on her return north with Messrs M. C. MacLeod and JF. Cane for Palmerston North. The Karoro arrived yesterday afternoon from the north with Mr A. E. G. Sim, Mr R. Murray Smyth, Mrs R. B. Berry, Master E. Love, and Mr R. C. Love from Christchurch.
