CLAY BIRD SHOOTING

SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP The South Island Skeel Championship was held at Green Island on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the Dunedin Gun Club. There were 16 entries for the championship, which was fired in a bad light. J, Steven (Balclutha) broke 20 birds to win the match. G. E, Turner (Dunedin) and V 7. Weavers (Tawanui) drew for second place. The shoot-off foi the trophy was won by G. E. Turner. In the Open Skoet Sweepstake, which was Held in the morning, C. Wilson (Tawanui) and W. Elliott (Balclutha) drew with 19 breaks each. J. Steven (Balclutha) was next with 18 breaks. Mr A. Adams was the referee.
