SUNDAY SERVICES

Harvest thanksgiving services will be held in First Church to-morrow, and will be conducted by the Rev. W. Allen Stevely, whose subjects will be, in the morning, “Harvest Glory,” and in the evening, "Harvest Thoughts.” At the morning service the anthem will be “The Marvellous Work Behold Amazed,” and the evening music will include the quartet “The Duteous Day Now Closeth ” and the anthem “ O That Men Would Praise the Lord.” Dr Galway will be at the organ. The morning and evening services at Knox Church will be conducted by the Rev. D. C. Herron. The evening subject is entitled “Adequate Resources.” At the Theosophical Society Mrs A. J. Pollard will speak. In St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church the preacher, morning and evening, will be the Rev. Thomas Miller. At the morning service his subject will be “Gladness in the Heart,” and his subject in the evening will be “The Bicentenary of Methodism—A Retrospect.” The Rev. J. Ewen Simpson will conduct the services at the Hanover Street Baptist Church, speaking in the morning on “ Out to Win,” and in the evening on “ How to Accept Christ.” In the evening the choir will present two hymn-studies, “ I Need Thee Every Hour” and “Jesus. Thou Art Everything to Me.” “This Scientific Age” will be the subject presented in the Strand Theatre to-morrow evening by Pastor T. J. Bradley. Sessions are still conducted at 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and community hymn singing commences at 6.15 p.m. The services at the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church to-morrow will be conducted by the Rev. A. C. -W. Standage, the subjects being “Vision and Decision ” and " Life with a Purpose.’ At foe Congregational Church, Moray place, the Rev. Albert Mead’s subject in the morning will be “As Moonlight unto Sunlight,” and in the evening, “ The Salvation of the Cross.’ The anthems “ Lead Me, Lord,” and “Turn Thy Face from My Sins will be sung at the morning and evening services respectively. The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct to-morrow's services at the United Congregational Church, Albany street. “The Believer’s Bank Note’ is the topic for the morning service, and in the evening the subject will be “Are We Near the End of the World? ” A quartet will be heard at the evening service. There will be special Mothers’ Day services at the Methodist Central Mission to-morrow, conducted by the Rev. L. B. Neale. In the evening Mr Neale will take as his subject “ Mother— Whose Life Cathedralled God.” The soloists will be Mrs Alex Chisholm and Miss Norma Brown. At the Greater World Spiritual Mission the Rev. G. Brooks will take, for her subject “ Dictators or Freedom? ’ Spiritual clairvoyance will be demonstrated, and on Wednesday a flower psychometry service will be held at o p.m. Dr Moorey, of Melbourne, will continue his mission at the Spiritualist Church in the evening, when he will give an address and follow with demonstrations of spiritual clairvoyance. The Healing Centre will meet on Monday evening, and Dr Moorey will conduct a psychometry meeting on Friday evening. There will be a members’ meeting on May 24. At the Salvation Army there will be a “day of vital messages at all services. At 11 a.m. the subject will be “ How Can V/e« Be Like Our Lord Jesus Christ?” the speaker being Treasurer C. Brown. At 3 p.m. the subject will be “Is There Just One God? ” the speaker being Band Sergeant M. Poulter; and at 7 p.m. the subject will be “Could Judas Have Been Forgiven?” the speaker being Adjutant Victor Dick The soloist will be Miss B. Brown. At 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. young people’s meetings will be conducted by Y.P.S.M. S Harford. On Tuesday next Colonel Grattan, chief secretary for New Zealand, will conduct a united service Dr Vere Poliss. Ph. D.. will deliver an address on Sunday evening at 7.13 in Meffan’s Tea Rooms, Princes street. Her subject will be “Wheels of Destiny.”
