Miss Kitty Glendinning will leave to-day for Auckland, where she will join the Aorangi for Vancouver, cn route to England.

To celebrate the coining of age of Miss Jean Marriage, a delightful party was given by Mesdames J. and W. Wilson at “ Scratnagh," Grant street, on Tuesday evening.

A social was held at Mr J. M. Beatlie's home on Tuesday last to bid farewell to Miss Fletcher and Mr Allan and family, who are leaving Ngapuna district. The evening was spent in progressive euchre and dancing, the former being won by Mrs Guy and Mr Ayson. Mrs Murray Robertson and Mr W. Cattanach won the lucky spot waltz and Miss Bowden and Mr M. McMaster won the Monte Carlo dance. The music was supplied by the Peal Orchestra, and solos were rendered by Mrs M, Robertson and Miss Arnott. Mr Beattie, before presenting the guests of honour with a substantial cheque, spoke of the high esteem in which they were held.

The Gardening Circle of the Otago Women's Club held a most successful bridge drive in the club’s lounges on Thursday evening. Miss M. Martin, the chairwoman, welcomed the guests, her gown being of wine coloured lace worn under a coatee of cream fur fabric. After supper the prizes were presented, Mrs Richdale being the winner of both the contract bridge and “lucky chair” prizes, and Mrs Wilson coming first in the auction bridge competition. A delightful and novel five o’clock party was given yesterday by Mrs W. D. Young at “Morialta,” Musselburgh rise, to celebrate the coming-of-age of her daughter Bai'bara. It being Friday the thirteenth, fate was tempted with crossed knives, open umbrellas and a colour scheme of green, while guests entered the house under an archway formed by a ladder. Mrs Young wore a gown of black delustred satin with white pleating at the neckline and Miss Barbara Young’s gown was of dark green silk crepe.
