A bright idea for a nursery rug is to sew together enough felt of a light blue colour to make a six-foot square. Next, cut some paper patterns in outline of cats dogs, horses, tigers, etc. and paste them on to the felt and secure down with buttonhole-stitch. They will look attractive if cut from red and yellow flannel, and a few stitches are added with black and white thread to bring out the features of the animals.
