EARTH TREMORS

IN PARTS OF NEW GUINEA WOODEN HOUSES COLLAPSE RABAUL, May 13. (Received May 13, at 11 p.m.) An earthquake occurred at Salamaua at 1.40 this morning, followed by a small tidal wave. Some wooden houses collapsed, but nobody was injured. Water rose over the Customs wharf, washing away objects on the foreshore. Earth tremors also occurred at Madang and Wau without damage. It will be recalled that Salamana is the site favoured for the capital to replace Rabaul.
