THE CAPPING PROCESSION

TO THE EDITOR Sir,—l am afraid your correspondent “ Commercial Artist ” is suffering from a superiority complex. He is obviously aware of the fact that the Capping Book of 1933, which he praises to the skies, was largely compiled from the work of commercial artists. The students, realising that such outcasts could not portray current events as they themselves would, have gradually taken over the compilation of the book themselves. Most of the sketches in this year’s book are by students, and, whilst they may lack the professional touch, they make up for it by clever and intelligent portrayals. “ Commercial Artist ” and his like should try a capping procession themselves. I wonder if they could raise £5lO for a worthy cause.—l am. etc., May 12. Undergrad.
