PARTIAL DERAILMENT

WAGON OF GOODS TRAIN FRONT WHEELS LEAVE RAILS (Peb United Press Association) WANGANUI, Mar. 29. The partial derailment of a petrol wagon attached to a goods train proceeding from Marton to New Plymouth at exactly the spot where the excursion train engine left the rails on Saturday caused a delay of an hour and a-half to rail traffic on the Wanganui section at 4.15 to-day. The two front wheels of the truck only were derailed. No damage was caused to the wagon, but the regulations provide that whenever a derailment occurs the rolling stock involved must be left at the nearest station for examination. The truck was accordingly left at Wangaehu. At the time of the mishap the train was travelling dead slow at five miles an hour. While the truck was being righted the line was temporarily blocked and passengers for the express at Marton were transhipped at Turakina.
