GAIETIES REVUE COMPANY
FAREWELL PERFORMANCE Making its final appearance in Dunedin on Saturday night, the Stanley McKay’s Vaudeville Company presented the revue, “A Brighter 1938,” to a large audience in His Majesty’s Theatre. At the head of the company, the popular and versatile comedian, Joe Lawman, was in particularly good form and he kept the audience in a constant slate of merriment with his quips and sallies and his unfailing supply of banter. George Corelli. Elton Black, and Wyn Edgerton assisted the comedian in a number of sketches, and Cliffe O’Keefe and Les Trenette rendered some pleasing vocal numbers. The Hilo Duo received. an enthusiastic reception, and were recalled for request numbers The ballet, too, put in a hard evening’s work, and the orchestra under May Brooke, played an important part in the success of the production.
