MEMORIAL SERVICE

THE LATE SIR TRUBY KING AUCKLAND’S TRIBUTE (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 27 Auckland paid a tribute to the memory of Sir Truby King at a largely-attended memorial service in St. Mary’s Cathedral this morning. Organised by the Plunket Society, the service was attended by representatives of all sections of the community. Representatives of the Auckland City Council and the Auckland ' Harbour Board were present, and also representatives of the British Medical Association, the naval and military services, and numerous local bodies and societies. All the nursing divisions were represented, and the doctors and consulting staff of the Karitane Home attended. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr A. Hamilton) also was at the service.

“To serve was to him infinitely higher than to serve self or to amass fortune,” said Archbishop Averill in the course of a stirring panegyric on the late Sir Truby King.
