Struck a vicious blow on the forehead by an unknown main ,as she Vas proceeding to,her home gut Onehunga late on Saturday night, a young married woman, Mrs Edna Hirst, was rescued by nearby residents who came to her assistance when they heard her scream. Mrs Hirst came to a dark part of the road, and was about to pass, a man walking .in the opposite direction when, without warning, .he raised his fist and struck her a heavy blow on the forehead. Mrs ' Hirst screamed loudy, and her screams were heard by several people living nearby. Her assailant, evidently afraid of being apprehended, made no attempt to , rob her, and disappeared. • ; Mrs Hirst,, suffering from shock, assisted into the home of some friends. Apart from a bruised forehead, sh« was not badly injured, and later wa* able to return to her home.
