WIRTH’S CIRCUS
SESSIONS INCREASINGLY POPULAR There is an atmosphere about a circus that is as distinctive as it is thrilling, and young and old look forward with pleasurable excitement to the coming of Wirth Bros.’ spectacular show every two years. The present entertainment at the Caledonian Ground fully maintains—if not surpasses—the high standard of previous shows, and as usual there is not a dull moment from the opening grand parade to the final scene. Captain Eric Flyger provides daring thrills with his royal Bengal tigers, cumbrous elephants give an amazing version of a military tattoo, and performing dogs, monkeys and ponies add their contributions to the clever animal turns. Remarkable feats of balancing by the three Houstons, exhibitions of physical endurance by M. Markoni and the Nelson troupe, the aerial acrobatics of the Ten Ziganies, the grace and superb balance of the Misses Wirth, are all prominent features on a programme that was enjoyed by huge crowds at both the afternoon and night sessions yesterday. Without a delay of any kind the circus goes from one brilliant act to another, tumbling clowns and patter comedians filling in every spare moment with their irresistible fun and frolics. The circus will definitely be concluded on Saturday night, so that there remain only three night performances and an afternoon session on the final day before Wirth Bros.’ 1937 circus leaves for northern centres.
