ITALIAN REINFORCEMENTS POSSIBLE THREAT TO EGYPT (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Nov. 15. Asked in the House of Commons whether he knew of the apprehension caused in Egypt by the concentration of large Italian forces on the Libyan frontier and whether he proposed to make representations to the Italian Government under the joint declaration of last January, Viscount Cranborne replied, "No. adding: "I have no reason to suppose that the reinforcement of troops in Libya is directed against Egypt." , Viscount Cranborne was also asked whether, in the view of the Government, the provisions of the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty required it to defend Egyptian territory in the event of Egypt becoming a victim of an act of unprovoked aggression, and he replied: " Yes." A Labour member: Does he mean by "Yes" that the Government intends to carrv out its obligations? Viscount Cranborne: Yes.
