THE RASPUTIN FILM

LIBEL ACTION SETTLED DEFENDANTS EXPRESS REGRET LONDON, Nov. 15. The Chegodieff libel action has been settled. Mr Norman Birkett. for the plaintiffs, said the film " Rasputin, the Mad Monk," purported to portray the life and assassination of Rasputin. The plaintiffs' names were linked with the characters allegedly implicated in Rasputin's murder. Researches had cleared the plaintiffs of the imputations. The defendants regretted that the names had been used inadvertently, and expressed regret for causing pain and distress to the Prince and Princess. Prince Alexis Pavlovich Chegodieff and Princess Elena Chegodieff sued Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Ltd., for alleged libel in the Rasputin film, recalling Princess Youssoupoff's action in 1934.
