OAMARU HARBOUR BOARD

TO THE EDITOR Sir,—Everything comes to those who wait. In the report of the chairman of the Oamaru Harbour Board it is stated that, acting on the advice of the consulting engineer, the board decided to open out the quarry by cutting away the old fault between the unused and used portions of the quarry to bring it into one working face. Mr Ireland refused recently to answer questions from me directly bearing on this question. It is hoped "ultimately" to reduce the working cost of the quarry, but the effect of the advice up to the present is disclosed in the greatly increased cost of quarry working for this year as disclosed by the official figures. When a good man is in charge of the quarry why not accept his advice?—l am, etc., Not a Fault. Oamaru, Nov. 4.
