TIME OF GREAT EXPANSION NEW DESIGNS OF WARSHIPS (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 27. " Ships of war will never be ousted from the sea by aircraft. Air attack must be met in the air," said Lieu-tenant-commander L. Brooks, who arrived by the Ruanine, en route to Australia to join H.M.A.S. Cerberus. "The Navy in England is entering upon a time of great expansion," lie said, "and the shortage of junior officers has held out bright prospects for young men to-day." He thought there would bo radical changes in the appearance of warships, because of changes in design, partly needed to protect them against air attack and to enable them to carry their own aircraft.
