THE SILKSWORTH DISPUTE SETTLEMENT ANNOUNCED LONDON, Oct. 22. (Received Oct. 22, at 11.15 p.m.) The whole of the Silksworth's Chinese crew are to be repatriated to China at the cost of those who chartered the ship. An agreement to this effect was reached overnight. Meanwhile the Chinese Consul is caring for them. The 30 who were arrested appeared before the court at Newcastle to-day, charged with absenting themselves without leave, but the charge was withdrawn. It is hoped to obtain a white crew to take the steamer to the Far East. NON-UNION CREW ENGAGED SYDNEY, Oct. 22. (Received Oct. 23, at 1.30 a.m.) To-night a volunteer non-union crew was engaged at Sydney for the Silksworth, which was declared " black " by Newcastle seamen. The new crew will arrive in Newcastle late to-night, when developments are expected. AN APPEAL -WITHDRAWN MELBOURNE, Oct. 22. (Received Oct. 22, at 11.30 p.m.) The appeal against the judgment of the High Court in the action following the collision between the Kakariki and the Caradale has been withdrawn by the owners of the Caradale.
