INTOXICATED DRIVER
CARRIER PLEADS GUILIT FINED AND LICENCE CANCELLED (Special to Daily Times) TEMUKA, Oct. 18. At the Temuka Magistrate’s Court this morning, Albert Bruce Hayward, a carrier, of Geraldine, appeared to answer a charge of being found in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car on the WinchesterGeraldine main highway. The defendant, through counsel (Mr G. J. Walker, pleaded guilty. Constable D. Callanan, of Geraldine, said that the defendant should not be permitted to drive a car as he was subject to seizures and had previously been warned regarding his condition. The Bench imposed a fine of £lO. including £1 Is medical expenses. The defendant’s present licence was cancelled until the end of the term and for the 12 months following, and it was ordered that, before applying for another, he must satisfy the court regarding his physical condition. The defendant agreed to take out a prohibition order. _ , Messrs H. E, Gapper and E. Blackmore, J.P.’s, were on the bench.
