PROTECTION FOR MANUFACTURERS AUCKLAND IMPORTERS ALARMED (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Oct. 12. The impression has gained ground among importers in Auckland that the scheme in the course of preparation by the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Nash) to protect manufacturers from the effects of over-importations is to regulate imports, either by a licensing system or by control of overseas_ credits or exchange, nossibly in conjunction with a licensing system. Expectation that the scheme will follow these lines is causing alarm, and if the Government’s policy is as anticipated there are bound to be strong protests by the importing interests
