TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL EXPENDITURE

ro THE EDITOH

Sir, —I have read in the Daily Times of the generosity of the Taieri Countv Council in giving £750 towards the improvement of a road which is used principally during the week-end by pleasure seekers on their way to the Taieri Aerodrome or surrounding districts. I do not wish to deny our citv friends their visits to the country What I want to point out is the fact that there is already a bitumen road from, Dunedin to the Taieri. In some parts of this county there are roads which are impassable for motor traffic. There are others, again, when it Is necessary to travel in low gear, and even then there is danger of breakages. I can also point out to councillors where it is necessary to make a detour of four miles, since threequarters of a mile of unmetalled road keeps a person from getting to his destination. Hoping that the Taieri County Council will find a little extra for a good purpose,--! am, etc., Tradesman.
