RETURNED SOLDIERS

DUNEDIN ASSOCIATION The Executive Committee of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers' Association met last night, Mr J. M. White being in the chair. There were also present: Messrs W F. Forrester, G. H. Ferens, A. J. Gordon, H. Fiddes, A. Duncan and W. K. Cameron. MEMBERSHIP The figures ,in the membership campaign were reported to be as follows:—Christchurch, 1569; Dunedin, 1422. TRANSFERS Four nominations for membership, including one honorary member, were received, and three outward transfers and one inward were recorded. The deaths of two members (Messrs R. A. Smith and R. E. Lerrigo) were also reported. RADIO CONCERT Mr White reported that tentative arrangements were being made for a radio concert which would take the form of a Diggers' programme. The object of the concert was to promote interest in the affairs of the association and also to assist in increasing the membership. FLAG DAY APPEAL The secretary reported that the total sum collected for the Flag Day appeal was £275 5s 7d. Mr White expressed nleasure at the amount collected, which was for the King George V Memorial Fund, and said that in view of the previous requests the public had had to contribute to, members would agree that the response had been a satisfactory one. A special vote of thanks to all who had assisted was carried. NEW SOUTH WALES BRANCH In the report of the Dominion Executive Committee, it was stated that the New South Wales Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association and Soldiers' Imperial League of Australia desired that a contingent of New Zealanders up to 1000 should visit Sydney and participate in the Anzac Day ceremony in April, 1938. The report also contained an invitation for the New Zealanders to attend the celebrations in connection with the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the proclamation of Captain Phillip as Captain-General and Governor-in-Chief of Now South Wales. —The report was received
