NEW MOTOR VESSEL

ARRIVAL OF WAIANA INCIDENT ON SPANISH COAST (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 20. The Union Company's new motor vessel Waiana, which was built to replace the steamer Wingatui in the east coast cargo trade, arrived this morning on her maiden voyage from Glasgow, under the command of Captain Howie. The Waiana's voyage was uneventful except that when approaching Gibraltar a Spanish aeroplane flew round the ship several times, while the pilot signalled for the Waiana to hoist her flag. As soon as the Spaniards realised she was a British ship the aeroplane flew away.

After discharging 500 tons of phosphate at Auckland, the Waiana later will go to Wellington and Dunedin.
