SHOOTING EXPEDITION A TRAGIC SEQUEL (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 20. A fatal shooting accident occurred to-day at Takahue, near Kaitaia, when Kenneth Vivian Kirtlan, aged 12, the adopted son of Mr W. Kirtlan, received fatal wounds from the discharge of a shotgun. The boy, in company with his cousin, Harold Kirtlan, aged 16, with whom he was staying, went on a shooting expedition on the farm of his uncle. While the boys were sitting down for a rest the younger boy decided to have a shot, and reached to take the gun from the elder boy. The gun went off, and the charge entered the boy's right breast. SCHOOLBOY SHOT GUN ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGED (Per United Press Association) GISBORNE. June 20. A shooting fatality occurred on Saturday morning at Rototahi Station, on the east coast. The victim, a 14-year-old schoolboy named Riwai Paenga, resided with his uncle. The boy took a shotgun, and, in company with his cousin, who is cifht years of age, went shooting. When climbing through a fence the weapon was discharged, Riwai being shot dead. FOUND HANGING DEATH OF FARMER'S WIFE (Per United Press Association) BLENHEIM, June 20. Alice Jessie Sarah Rentoul, aged 62, the wife of Robert Rentoul, a larmer, of Wantwood, Wairau Valley district, was found hanging on Saturday afternoon in a woolshed. She had been mentally depressed. SEQUEL TO MOTOR ACCIDENT MAN SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, June 20.

An inquest was opened to-day into the death of William Alexander Gray, a married man, aged 74, of Hackthorne road, Cashmere. Mr Gray had been in bad health since he suffered injuries in a motor accident at Weka Pass on April 22, and he died at his home during the week-end. Evidence of identification was given by a son, Ivor Clanley Gray, and the inquest was adjourned for a post-mortem examination. FALL FROM MOTOR CYCLE YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, June 20. Dorothy Helen White, a single woman, aged 27 years, of 27 Peveril street, Riccarlon, who was found lying beside a motor cycle off which she had apparently fallen on the Main North road on the Christchurch side of Norwood Statipn, on Saturday morning, died in Christchurch Hospital at 9.45 on Saturday evening. Miss While was discovered on the road by a passing lorry driver, Mr W. P. Jarden. She had received head injuries. The inquest was adjourned after evidence of identification had been given by Kenneth Anthony White, a brother. MOTORIST INJURED ' When the motor car he was driving collided with a motor lorry at the intersection of Albany and Castle streets on Saturday, William Porteous, a young man. living at 79 Cavcrsham Valley road, received concussion. He was admitted to the Hospital at 6.4. i p.m. SKID IN GRAVEL Through skidding in some gravel in Taieri road on Saturday afternoon a motor cyclist, Donald Valentine, residing at BrockviJle road, Kaikorai. suffered concussion and abrasions and injuries to the left leg. He was admitted to Hospital at 3 p.m. FOOTBALLER INJURED Colin Bankshaw, residing at 13 Grange street, was admitted to the Hospital at noon yesterday, suffering from concussion and abrasions to the face, received while nlaving in a football match at Hancock Park.
