RUGBY FOOTBALL
TO-DAY’S MATCHES SOUTHERN v. KAIKORAI Two special attractions have been arranged for Carisbrook this afternoon. Provided that the ground is in a fit state to allow two games to be played there the University A v Pirates match will commence at 1 o’clock These two teams have been shqwing fine form and they should provide the public with a bright, open game. At 2.45 the two unbeaten teams, Kaikorai and Southern, will meet, and a closely contested game is expected. Both teams have solid packs of forwards, and the backs of both sides have been showing good form throughout the season. The Kaikorai supporters, it is stated, are confident that the hill team will put up a good game against its formidable opponents. Should Carisbrook not be in a fit state for both games to be played there, the match, University A v. Pirates, will be transferred to the Caledonian Ground to commence at 2.45.
Two games have been set down for Tahuna Park. On No. 1 ground Alhambra will meet Dunedin, and on No. 2 Union will play ZingariRichmond. The University B v. Taieri match will take place at University Oval. The charge for admission to-day will be 9d, of which 3d will go to the Accident Fund. Admission to the stands is 6d extra. Official guides, containing" full particulars regarding teams and players and interesting reading matter will be on sale at the Otago Sports Depot, Mr S. Jacobs’s shop, and at the various grounds. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ MATCHES All primary schools’ Rugby football matches which were to have been played to-day have been postponed.
