INSTRUCTIONS TO ENGINEER The Works Committee of the City Council has given instructions to the city engineer to carry out the following works:— Install a 12-inch culvert in Rimu toad, where portion of the carriageway has collapsed, at an estimated cost of £35.

Erect walling for the purpose of retaining the footway in Eden street, at an estimated cost of £2O. Carry out formation of footway, kerbing, and channelling in Ferguson street, where a new entrance is being constructed to the Carisbrook Ground, Remove slip and construct culvert at Campbell’s road, at an estimated cost of £B7. , J . Install street light at the blind end of Dudley place, at an estimated cost of £8 2s 7d.

Remove bank in Thomson street to enable owner to erect a wall on the correct street alignment, and form a screenings footway, at an estimated cost of £3O. , Carry out repairs to steps leading from Queen’s drive to the rear of the High Street School. Carry out excavating and paving footway in Norwood street. Estimated cost £1 10s. Construct' kerbing and channelling and adjust the tarred macadam footway in Littlebourne crescent, at an estimated cost of £l6. Carry out alterations to level in Signal Hill road, at an estimated cost of £4. . , Carry out street widening work in Maryhill terrace, between Vickery street and Cross street. Estimated cost £282. t . . Carry out improvement work, including kerbing and channelling, in north side of Taieri road, between Walton street and Tyne street, at an estimated cost of £237. This work is to be charged to the petrol tax vote. Improve the surface of the roadway in Leven street. Install eight lights in Hislop, Pryde, and Wilkinson streets, Liberton township. at an estimated cost of £lO5 9d The matter of lighting in Sturdee street is to be considered in connection w’ith the allocations for next year. .
