STOLEN BRONZE EAGLE

RISE IN METAL PRICES The rise in world metal prices may lie behind an extraordinary theft which took place in New York recently. A massive bronze eagle—weighing 7001 b—was removed in the night by thieves.

The eagle is about six feet tall, with a wing spread of six feet and a-half. Footprints in the garden where it stood showed that it was not removed without considerable effort.
