THE PENINSULA MOTOR SERVICE
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—l notice that the Peninsula Motor Service is advertising a new and improved time table. Possibly this time table may be an improvement for Macandrew Bay, but as far as Broad Bay and Portobello are concerned I fail to see any improvement. As a regular traveller on these buses I have not heard any dissatisfaction expressed with the former time table, and it is difficult to understand why these alterations are being made so often. I have heard numerous complaints respecting the new time table, and I consider these have some justification. For instance, the 5.50 p.m. bus to Portobello has been put back to 6 p.m. This means an additional wait of 10 minutes for users of this bus, most of whom cease business at 5.30 p.m., and have hitherto quite conveniently managed to catch the 5.50 with ample time to spare. The additional 10-minute wait will not be welcomed by travellers, especially during the winter months. One is forced to the conclusion that these alterations are being made to suit the company's own convenience, and that the convenience of residents is only a secondary consideration. —I am, etc., Regular Traveller. Broad Bay, June 17.
