THE GAME OF CHESS
PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN GISBORNE LEADS THE WAY (Per United Press Association) GISBORNE, June 17. The Gisborne Chess Club has set aside one evening each week to teach primary school children the rudiments of the game, and the first class was held to-night. Local educationists are-giving every encouragement to children to participate. It is believed to be the first centre in New Zealand where primary school children are being taught chess on a big scale.
